COTTON GIN

  • Was invented by Eli Whitney
  • Quickly and easily seperates cotton
  • The cotton gin increased slavery
  • Farther west had more cotton so the cotton gin headed that way
  • Made it easier to farm cotton

  • Made for transmitting and receiving messages over a long distance
  • Envented by Samuel Morse
  • Samuel Morse also created morse code
  • The telegraph didn't cause too much impact on the American life
  • Communicastion in the west was slow before the telegraph

  • The railroad made it easier for people to transport goods and themselves
  • Extended markets and made it easier to get around
  • Made a faster, safer transfer method
  • People used to walk, ride horses or wagons before the railroad

  • They had more control of the ship
  • The steam boat made a quicker route westward
  • People used to have to rely on the wind to sail but they can control the steamboat
