AMISH BELIEFS

  • They believe in the teachings from Jacob Ammann
  • It is a Protestant denomination, closely related to the Mennonites
  • Overall they are very similar to the Jews that keep old testament law
  • They also believe that Jesus is the son of God and that he died for our sins
  • In addition, they believe that they have to weigh out there bad with good

AMISH LIFESTYLE

  • They believe to stay "Unspotted from the world"
  • There for they do not have TV or any technology
  • They use a horse and carriage to get around
  • Only a few communities allow bikes and sometimes roller blades
  • The Bishop is the person who makes the rules of the community

AMISH DRESSCODE

  • The men normally wear straight-cut suits and coats without collars
  • Belts are forbidden, as are sweaters, neckties and gloves
  • Young men are to be clean shaven until marrage
  • And mustaches are forbidden
  • Amish women normally wear solid colored dresses/long skirts

  • Many Amish live in farm areas, growing and producing their own food
  • The amish avoid using technology so there cooking is different
  • Most amish communities trade food within there community
  • They mainly eat lighter food in the morning since they have to work
  • They also enjoy eating with as many people as possible

  • There has only been one convicted amish person of homicide
  • It is stereotypical that amish men like vollyball
  • You can get a DWI for driving a horse and buggy while intoxicated
  • Amish country is know for its brutal puppy mills
  • The show "Amish Mafia" is just fake reenactments of amish culture
