  • She started out as a musician at a very young age writing compositions at age 4
  • She was homeschooled so she could continue her musical training.

  • She never left the United States for musical training
  • She had many offers which her parents turned down to keep her close to home

Amy married dr.beach , who was 24 years older than her at the time of marriage. He studied medicine at Harvard med school and practiced at Massachusetts general hospital.

  • She was the first American woman to write a symphony.
  • She was only trained in America
  • That’s what made her so special

Amy is the first and only daughter of Clara Imogene Marcy Chaney and Charles Abbott Chaney. Her mother had a sister named Emma Francis Marcy who had a daughter named Ethel (Amy’s cousin). She is great niece to Oren B. Chaney founder of Bates collage
