THE INSPECTOR

• The inspector wants each member of the family to share the responsibility off Eva's death
• He says" each of you helped to kill her"
• His final speech is aimed at not only the characters but also the audience

SHEILA

• Only Sheila takes responsibility for her actions
• She attempts to persuade the others that they helped to kill Eva Smith

ERIC

• He seems more worried about giving money than stealing from his father
• Eric also feels his father was harsh in Sacking Eva
• He disagrees with his father

MRS BIRLING

• She refuses to take responsibility for her actions
• She puts all the blame onto her children
• She tries to take on the Inspector just like her husband
• " I accept no blame for it at all"
• " if you take some steps to find this young man and then make sure that he is compelled to confess "

MR BIRLING

• Doesn't take any responsibility
