What is it?
An analogy makes comparison or shows relationships between sets of words, objects, or figures


Three Step Method
Step 1. Build a strong bridge sentence ( a bridge sentence shows how the words relate)
Step 2. Use the bridge with each answer choice.
Step 3. If not sure about answer adjust the bridge sentence.

Function is a type of analogy.
A function is what something is used for its purpose.
Example:
Knife:cut::airplane:travel

Degree Analogy
A degree analogy is different levels of something.
Example:
Good:excellent::polite: generous

Lack Analogy
A lack analogy is to be missing something
Example:
Selfish:compassion::
childish:maturity

Characteristic Analogy
A characteristic analogy is a description of something
Example:
Athlete:healthy::shark:
dangerous

Definition Analogy
A definition analogy gives the meaning
Example:
Puppy:dog::kitten:cat

Type Analogy
A type analogy explains a category something is in
Example:
Fork:utensil::oak:tree

Part/Whole Analogy
A part/whole analogy is a part of something
Example:
Ear:head::leg:chair

Accessory Analogy
A accessory analogy add a special touch to something
Example:
Glasses:head::earring:
ear

Habitat Analogy
A habitat analogy is where something lives
Example:
Beaver:dam::human:
house

Figures Analogy
A figure analogy has pictures
Example:
