These bones are long bones, all the types of bones include long, short, flat, sesamoid, and irregular bones.

MOVEMENTS

  • Arm adduction
  • Arm abduction
  • Medial rotation
  • Lateral rotation
  • Flextion and extention

  • Serratus anterior
  • Pectoralis major
  • Trapezius
  • Levator scapulae
Serratus anterior - stabilizes scapula
Origin : upper 8 or 9 ribbs
Insertion : scapula

Pectoralis major - flexion
Origin : clavicle, sternum
Insertion : humerus

Trapezius - steady the shoulders (shrugging)
Origin : External occipital protuberance
Insertion : scapula

Levator scapulae - lifts scapula
Origin : top of spine, posterior tubercles
Insertion : scapula

MUSCLES

  • Deltoid
  • Latissimus dorsi
  • Teres major
Deltoid - abducts arm
Origin : Clavicle, scapula
Insertion : humerus

Latissimus dorsi - extends arm
Origin : t7-l5 of vertebra
Insertion : humerus

Teres major - works with latissimus dorsi to extend arm, internal rotation of humerus
Origin : scapula
Insertion : humerus
