WHO THEY WERE AND WHAT THEY DID

WHO WERE THIER LEADERS?
The Pharoh or A King was the Egyptians most important leader.
2 generals lead Upper and Lower Egypt, usually realitives of the Pharoh
Many times their would be 3 divisions one for the King and each General

WHO WERE THE WARRIORS
In the Old Kingdom the military was farmers and other workers
The New Kingdom developed a standing army for safety against enemys
You could have a career or community service in the military
Some parents enlisted there kids at the age of 5!

WHAT WEAPONS DID THEY USE
The Egyptians used a variety of weapons from axes to pitch forks
The most important weapon was the bow. It could shoot 600ft.

WHO DID THEY FIGHT
Many times they would fight to conquer more land.
If they won the battle the losers would have to give them their nice things and land.
One recorded battle was found in hieroglyphics which Egypt beat the hyksos
Many battles were fought and won because egypt kept getting larger.

DID THEY HAVE ANY ELITE WARRIORS?
No but they divided the army into 3 groups, archers, infantry and spearman

WERE THEY SUCCESSFUL?
Yes, they conquered and won many battles in Syria and other neighboring countries.

WHAT WAS THE MATERIAL USED IN WEAPONS
Ebony- a type of wood, was used for bows
Leather was popular for handles.
Nice spears used metal for the tips, some were just a rock with a stick.
9.
DID THEY ATTACK OR DEFEND?
They would only attack if attacked or for goods and land.
The geography around them gave them a built in defense.
The Egyptians became better at defending after upper egypt was conquered
