ANCIENT EGYPT

MEN AND WOMEN

  • The men and women both had different roles . They both had helped each other in different ways
  • But they were some similarities in between them
  • Egyptian women had the same rights as men and were able to make decisions on their own

ROLE OF WOMEN

  • The women's role were to stay at the camp and take care of the baby's.
  • They usually made food for the young
  • The women in ancient age were able to own property, but not able to own the property with her husband
  • Women even had the choice to be the rulers of the family instead of men
  • There main goal was to raise there children and if they had a job they would do that too

ROLE OF WOMEN

  • Women could own almost anything , slaves ,property livestock , land , and goods too.
  • If the women were in the lower class they were to work in homes, they were too do household chores and take care of children.
  • Wealthy women became doctors, governors , or even judges.
  • In the ancient age the women were treated equally as men were.
  • The girls mothers would teach them to write

ROLE OF MEN

  • The men and ancient Egypt really valued there kids and took great care of tyem
  • Wealthy men worked in business or government
  • Boys learned to trade and craft from their fathers
  • Men would work towards growing crops, building, selling, buying thing, if they could afford it
  • Usually the boys would want to inherit the fathers job when they "retire"

ROLE OF MEN

  • Men had worked all day but still had time to teach there sons lessons
  • If they could afford it they would buy slaves for the family
  • Both men and women could work in the governmental station too
  • Most of the fathers had sent there sons( about age 7) to school
  • There sons thrived the work of their father

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Writing- the Egyptians made a writing system called hieroglyphics
  • Papyrus- these are sheets of parchment from papyrus plants,that grow along the Nile.

  • Mathematics- Egyptians needed a good understanding of geometry to build pyramids and buildings. They used factors of 10, such as 1,10,100. Ex: to write the number 5 they would write it 5 times
  • Mummification- this is a seventy day spiritual ceremony that allowed the deceased to begin the journey to a new world and new life.
  • Pyramids- they are tombs for the pharaoh. The tomb was designed to keep the pharaohs body safe, and a passage way to the other side

  • The pyramids of Giza- the oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world. It was built for the fourth dynasty pharaoh Khufu and was completed around 2560 B.C
  • The great Sphinx: the original purpose of it is unknown, but it believed to guard the pyramid of Giza.

  • Makeup- The ancient Egyptians used beauty as a sign of holiness. Everything the ancient Egyptians used had a spiritual use including cosmetics,
  • Medicine- ancient Egypt is the place where medicine started , the would try many things to heal people. If people had injuries they would use sunu.

  • Other than the pyramids , the Egyptian people would build massive temples, which believed to be the home for the gods.
  • Toothpaste- believe it or not Egyptians made toothpaste as well , they didn't use the Sam materials though. They used ashes eggshells and even ground up ox hooves.
  • Ships- building large ships was a big part in their technology. They started off with smells boats made of papyrus reeds, but then they made very large ships with cedar wood imported from Lebanon.

ART

  • Although Egyptian people had not a lot to write and draw with they were very good at art and it was cool.
  • They made sculptures and they were highly stylized and symbolic.
