Ancient Egypt was an ancient civilization of Northeastern Africa located at the lower reaches of the Nile river in what is now the modern country of Egypt.

ANCIENT EGYPTIAN SOCIETY

THE PHARAOH WAS BELIEVED TO BE A GOD ON EARTH AND HAD THE MOST POWER.

THE VIZIER WAS THE PHARAOH'S CHIEF ADVISOR AND WAS SOMETIMES ALSO THE HIGHEST PRIEST

NOBLES RULED THE REGIONS OF EGYPT.

PRIESTS WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING THE GODS HAPPY.

Scribes were the only people who could read and write and were responsible for keeping records

SOLDIERS WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEFENCE OF THE COUNTRY.

Craftsmen were skilled workers such as pottery makers, sculptors, and painters.

Slaves were usually prisoners captured in war. They could be found in the households of the Pharaoh and nobles, working in mines.

ENVITONMENTAL CHALLENGE

Droughts triggered crop failures, starvation, revolts and the downfall of cultures in ancient Egypt. Droughts made people thirsty and hungry, turning them eventually desperate and violent.

SOLUTION

They irrigated to different areas and saved up water for the next drought.
