NILE RIVER FACTS

  • In its early days, Egypt was two different kingdoms
  • There are exactly 12 branches coming from the Nile River
  • All of the branches flow into the Mediterranean Sea
  • The Red Sea borders the Eastern Desert, which borders the Nile River
  • Akhet was what was known as the flood season

  • The king is the highest point of the social ladder
  • People in Egypt were born into their social rank
  • With hard work, some people were able to move into a higher social rank
  • Sometimes, one might have had to move down the social ladder instead of up
  • The higher that you were on the social ladder, the better you were treated

  • Pyramids were built by Egyptian kings
  • Pyramids served as tombs for dead kings
  • The king of Egypt was also known as a pharaoh
  • Egyptians buried their kings with the kings possessions
  • Pyramids needed lots of skill

  • "A" looks like a bird
  • "V" and "W" look almost exactly the same
  • "X" and "K" look very similar as well

PHARAOH FACTS

  • Egyptians believed their pharaohs to be Gods
  • Pharaohs had all the power and control in Egypt
  • Hatshepsut took control by saying that the sun god, Ra, was her father
  • She was described with a male pronoun
  • She was married to a pharaoh and took power when he died
