NILE RIVER FACTS

  • The black land meant life the red land meant danger.
  • People settled near the Nile river so they could grow crops.
  • There were three seasons akhet, peret, and shemu they all meant so etching different.
  • During akhet people stopped farming and began to do work for the government.
  • There is a lot of fertile Nile valley land for people to live on for farming.

  • There are five different classes that they put people in.
  • The highest class is the king he rules over all the other classes below him.
  • Enslaved people are at the bottom of the chain they work for all classes above them.
  • Nobles and priests helped the king and did what they told him.
  • Farmers and unkilled workers did the farming and harvesting.

  • Pyramids were built by the Egyptians for the kings.
  • They had to know mathematics, geometry, engineering, and architecture to build the pyramids.
  • The kings chamber could be found in the middle of the pyramid.
  • They buried the pharaohs with their belongings for there after life.
  • They had air shafts inside the pyramids for the king.

  • Hieroglyphics was a picture instead of letters.
  • Papyrus was paper making it easier to write in hieroglyphics .
  • Every letter had its own picture.
  • Hieroglyphics were ideas or object but could be sounds.
  • They kept records in hieroglyphics.

  • The pharaoh had no equal.
  • They believed the king had many powers being a god and a mother and a father.
  • Hatshepsut was a woman but acted like a king.
  • She said she was sun god ra's daughter.
  • She took control when her husband died.
