Greece is located in Europe. It is located near the Aegean Sea.
City States
A city-state is a surrounding territory that forms an independent state.
Golden Age
A time of peace, prosperity, and happiness. For the Greeks this period was from 500 to 300 BC
Athens
Athens is the capital and largest city of Greece. Athens is one of the world's oldest cities, with its recorded history spanning around 3,400 years and the earliest human presence.
Sparta
Sparta was a city-state in ancient Greece, located on the banks of the Eurotas River in Laconia, in south-eastern Peloponnese.
Hellenistic
relating to Greek history, language, and culture from the death of Alexander the Great.
Sparta and Athens
Sparta: Young boys were trained to be warriors; young girls were trained to be mothers of warriors.
Alike: One of the main ways they were similar was in their form of government.
Athens: As an Athenian, you could get a good education and could pursue any of several kinds of arts or sciences.
Daily Life As A Greek

Greek Government
The Greeks had a lot of different kinds of governments, because there were many different city-states in ancient Greece, and they each had their own government. In addition, people's ideas about what made a good government changed over time. The most common though was republic
Alexander the Great
Alexander the Great, was a King of the Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon and a member of the Argead dynasty. At the age of 20, Alexander assembled forces in Greek Cities in Corinth that recognised him as their Leader. His Army mainly consisted of Macedonian soldiers and also some Greeks.
Parthenon
The Parthenon is a former temple on the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, dedicated to the goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their patron.
