Greece is located at the southeast end of Europe
Its the southernmost coutry of the Balkan Peninsula

A city state is a political unit made up of a city and all the surrounding land
The 2 most powerful city-state were Athens and Sparta

A period marked by great achievments in Greek history
Pericles was one of the great rulers of Greece

Athens was well known for its many philosophers
Athens was one of the first places to have a democracy

The athenians had a great interest in the olyimpics
The olyimpics took place every four years
They also wrote plays and made art

They were well known for their military

Spartans did not recieve much education unlike Athenians
Usually at age 7 boys were sent to train to be in the military

During the wars greek culture was wildly spread

Men took a great part in the cities' government
Women often satyed home and did the house work

Athens had the first democracy
Democracy quickly spread throughout all of greece

ALEXANDER THE GREAT
He was one of the greates generals in hostory
He conquered half of Europe but had to return because his troops were tired
