All about Ancient Greece
They were great people who had lots of respect for gods. The Greeks thrived over land more than 4000 years ago. The Ancient Greek empire spread over Europe as far as France in the East. The Greek empire was most powerful during 2000 BC and 146 BC. Ancient Greece was split into many states. Each state ruled in its own way. The two most important city states were Athens and Sparta.
Climate of Ancient Greece
Ancient Greece had a Mediterranean climate. Its summers were hot and dry. Temperatures averaged to about 25 Degrees Celsius in summer. The Etasian waters and breeze kept the temperatures at a comfortable level. In Winter, temperatures again were influenced by the water level.
Clothing of the Greeks
The style of the Greeks was shown through their hair. The colors of their clothing was bright like Green, Red, Yellow or Blue. Men wore chiftons in summer. It was a type of tunic with lighter linen. Greek women wore peploses. In winter, men wore Himations. The women would wear Epeblimas.
Government
In Ancient Greece people voted their leader. Democracy was invented there. People like politicians lead the city-states. Different city- states had different ideas about government. Aristotle taught Greece about Monarchies, Democracies, and Tyrannies. In the late Bronze age all city- states in Greece seemed to have been using Monarchies ruled by a King.
Olympics
The Greeks started the Olympics in 776 BC. The athletes had to be free men ( No Slaves). The Olympics were held in Olympia in honor of the Olympics. The athletes had to vow to god Zeus that they had training. If a city-state wins, it gets an olive branch or a sack of money from another city-state.
Education
The ancient Greeks had a society where the boys would be trained to fight for their country. The education in Sparta was all about fighting and war. The boys started training in military school when they were six. If the boys cried they would be beaten.
