ANCIENT ROME

Introduction

Ancient Rome was an important ancient empire. Ancient Rome had many advancements that effect our lives today and has left its mark on the world.

SOCIAL STRUCTURE

During the Roman Empire they showed many examples of social structure. In ancient Roman society they had rulers that had more power than an average person. They also had two groups of people the plebleians, and the patricians. The plebleian had to fight for equal political power but eventually gained it.

ECONOMY

Ancient Rome had a good example of economy. The ancient Romans traded across the Mediterranean Sea, which is now Africa. The Ancient Romans had a mining and a farming industry. The Romans also traded slaves. Ancient Rome had two types of currency. They had the sesturtius, and later developed the denarius, which was worth four sesturtius.

THE ARTS

The Ancient Romans were great artists. They carved many sculptures and made mosaics. Mosaics are tile that are cut in squares and arranged to make a picture. Also, their buildings were carved to look nice. They carved giant pillars on their buildings. The Ancient Romans built giant coliseums like the one in Rome which is on the next page.

I went to Ceaser's Palace in Las Vegas which is modeled after Ancient Rome. They had statue and decorations that came from Ancient Rome, they looked cool.

INTERESTING FACTS

• Ancient Romans would clean their clothes in urine.
• Ancient Romans belived in many gods and goddeses.
• Ancient Rome was covered in grafitti, just like today.

Most Important Fact

The ancient Romans built huge coliseums that could hold up to 250,000 people. They would hold chariot races and other competitions in this coliseum.

Conclusion

Ancient Rome was once of the most important ancient empires. They had furthered the world and helped society then and today. They show good examples of economy, social structure, and the arts.
