  • Two thousand years ago Romans built the finest highways.
  • The Appian Way was one of Romes greatest highways.
  • Government officials and merchants soon began to use the military roads

  • Jullus Caesar is considered one of the best military commanders of all time
  • He conquered Gaul
  • In 49 B.C. he was elected dictator and consul 
  • Gaul changed the whole concept of the Roman state
  • He made a conquest to Gaul

  • Walls and floors are made of marble with designs carved in them
  • Few windows faced inward
  • Red brick tiles covered the roof
  • On booth sides of the doorway stood tall columns of shining marble
  • Wealthy Romans built large homes with two stories

  • Public baths were very popular and where Romans relife stress
  • Keeping clean was important to the ancient Romes 
  • Men and women used baths at separate times
