Aqueducts
The aqueducts were built to carry water. They were built like bridges and on top of arches.

The water on the aqueducts was used to supply the towns with water. The water was gotten from springs,rivers or lakes.

Bath
In ancient Rome taking a bath was a social event. Men and woman had schedule times to go wash.

Bath continued
The woman in ancient Rome had to pay twice as much to wash. When they washed they wore light clothing called "subligaculum" and sandals.

Bath continued
They would do exercises in the courtyard that was in the center of the bath house. They would lift weights, run, swim,and play ball. In the bath house there were warm floors, hot bath, and a cold bath. To heat this they used the hypocaust system.

Julius Caesar Assassination
Julius Caesar was at the senate and was attacked by a group of men.They were with him and then pulled out daggers.

The attack on Julius had been planed out.He was wounded thirty five times and died at the foot of Pompey's Statue

Octavian/Augustus
Augustus was the first ruler of Rome.When he became ruler he changed his name from Augustus to Octavian in 27bc.

Augustus was not well loved but he was and good at making laws.When he was ruler the empire got alot bigger.He had a month named after him also (August).When Augustus died his stepson Tiberious was the new ruler.

Nero
He was adopted by Claudius. Nero wanted to become a poet and an actor."Many people thought it was very undignified for an emperor to be on stage." Nero was blamed for a fire that burned down alot of Rome in 64 A,D. Nero ended up killing himself.

Romulus and Remus
In Rome a man over through the king of Rome. He ordered that his twin nephews to be thrown into the river. They were saved by a wolf and raised as there own. A shepered found them and took them in. Once they found out who they were, they wanted to make things right. They went to there uncle and told him they were the rightful king and they sent him to be punished for what he did.

Romulus and Remus continued
The legend say that Romulus was the founder of ancient Rome. Romulus killed his brother Remus. Since Romulus was the only brother left he became ruler of the city. He named the city after himself (Rome). The founding date for ancient Rome is 753 B,C. The actual Rome was formed by a group of people called Latins they were very wealthy from farming and trading this made other neighboring citys jealous.

Roman Gods
The roman people believed in more than one God this means they were polytheistic. They had mythology which explained what there Gods did in the universe.

Greek Gods continued
The legend was the Gods lived on Mt.Olympus there were 3 brothers and they would fight about who would control the heavens,sea and underworld.Greeks would make animal sacrifices to the Gods for help.

Roman Republic
In Rome there was no dictator the Roman citizens elected people to be in the government. The Romans had 3 branches that ran the government and each one had a little power over the other ones. The senate is the most powerful out of those 3 branches. Senates were made of people called nobles who owned lots of land and were very wealthy. The senate controlled who they would be there allies and the money.

Roman Republic continued
The assembly was the 2 branch of the government and was elected by normal people called plebeians. The assembly was meant to help plebeians know what there rights were. The forum was where the senate put all of the laws so the plebeians would know more about there rights. These laws were called the 12 tables. The 3 branch was the consuls they were elected by the assembly but usually did what the senate wanted they were military leaders and high judges and could order arrest.

Latin Language
Latin is an Italian language. Latin is considered a dead language.

Latin language continued
Even though Latin is a dead language,it is still taught in schools and universities. Some people can speak Latin fluently Latin is used to create new modern words still today.

Roman Numerals
Before "Hindo-Arabic numerals" they used Roman numerals instead in Ancient Rome.
