FACTS

  • The Andes is the highest mountain Range out side of Asia
  • The longest Continental mountain range in the world.
  • The Range is 7,000 km long, about 200km to 700km wide, and the height is about 13,000 ft tall
  • Farthest place from the center of the earth
  • It cuts through Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador,Columbia
  • One of the most famous part of the Andes is Machu Pichu

CLIMATE

  • There are distinct regions of the Andes: the tropical, wet, and dry Andes
  • The south part is the rainy and cool. The northern is rainy and warm. The center is dry.
  • The dry Andes is from the Atacama to the Maule River,the The wet Andes runs from the latitude 56 degrees south and 35 degrees south

NATURAL DIASATERS

  • An earthquake could be 10 times stronger in that region than in the past
  • An earthquake could have a magnitude of 7.5 or 8.9
  • It is on the Ring of Fire which causes earthquakes, volcano eruptions, and tsunamis

FUANA AND FLORA

  • There is almost 3,500 species in the Andes
  • 600 species of mammals, 1,700 species of birds, more than 600 species of Reptiles, and almost 400 species of fish
  • Cinchona pubescens are a species of plants that has a lot of quinine which is used to treat Malaria.
  • The Andes has part of the Atacama Deseret and it has basically no plants

REFLECTION

  • The Andes is a very important place with important geography and home to tons of wild life. It is also the biggest continental mountain range.
  • It is also home to plants that help tray diseases such as Malaria.
  • However a lot of naturals may occur because it is on the ring of fire. So earthquakes, tsunamis, and Volcano Eruptions can happen. It also has a lot of tourist spots such as Machu Pichu.
  • Overall the Andes is a very important place with tons of history and tons of importance.
