THE ANDES MOUNTAINS
Are the longest mountain range in South America .They are located along the coast of South America. The andes extend through many countries including Chile,Argentina,Bolivia,Columbia, Peru, Ecuador ,and Venezuela .

CLIMATE AND VEGETATION

  • Due to the climate there is a wide variation of vegitation.
  • Plant life: Apples,rice,coffee ,cotton,potatoes ,ect.
  • There are 4 levels of elevation in the andes.
  • The andes are temperate but get colder as elevation increases.
  • The andes are 4,500 miles in lenght and 6,952 miles tall.

  • Due to its location the forests climate fluctuates.
  • The amount of rainfall also contributes to the changing climate.
  • During daytime the humidity brings warm weather
  • At night the forest is cooler but still verry humid .
  • Even though weather can be harsh plants still flourish.

Location
This forest is a moist broadleaf forest that covers most of the Amazon Basin of south America. The forest is huge at
2.124 million miles. The forest covers Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname, and France.

  • Over 100 species of trees can be found in 1 plot of land.
  • Amazon plants and trees play a critical role in the global climate.
  • Because the forest gets so much rain soil is low in nutrients.
  • Over 80,000 plant epecies have been discovered.
  • Here plant life thrives with over 60,000 species of trees.

The central parts are dominated by shrubby and herbaceous plant species where precipitation is higher, bushes are replaced by grass.

Location
Patagonia is the largest desert in Argentina and is the 7th largest desert in the world occupying 673,000 square kilometers.It is located primarily in Argentina with small parts in Chile and is bounded by the Andes.

Climate
a large cold winter desert, where the temperature rarely exceeds 12 °C and averages just 3 °C. The region experiences a seven month winter and five month summer. Frost is not uncommon in the desert but, due to the very dry condition year round, snow is.
