How did he come into office?
Andrew Jackson was nominated for president in 1824 and lost to John Quincy Adams. He was nominated again in 1828 and won.

ANDREW JACKSONS' ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • First and only president to pay off the entire national debt.
  • Dismantled the Second Bank of the United States in 1832 on policy grounds
  • Relocated the Indians through the Indian Removal Act

OBSTACLES HE FACED

  • The nullification bill passed by the SC legislature which threatened to start major civil unrest.
  • The national bank which used federal funds to help them get richer, but did little to nothing for the lower class people.
  • The Peggy Eaton affair that broke up his cabinet.

Andrew Jackson should best be known for lowering the debt of the nation.

How did he come to leave office?
He served 2 terms, a total of 8 years, then retired.
Jackson died on June 18, 1845.

According to surveys Jackson is in the top 10 for greatest president. He's rated a 6 in the11 best U.S. Presidents, and an 8 in the ranking of top presidents.

In my opinion he was a great president that got things done, but did some controversial things.
