Interesting Facts:

Anesthesia can block your memory ( causes amnesia )

People who regularly smoke need more anesthesia then nonsmokers

In the U.S. theres 3 deaths for every 10,000 surgeries with anesthesia used.

Anesthesia is like a reversible coma

In older patients anesthesia could increase the risk of dementia by 35%

ANESTHESIA

TYPES

• General
• Local

General-
Twilight sleep, used for medium procedures. Drugs used nitrous oxides/ketamine/Valium.

Local-
Short procedures, mainly just used to numb an area of skin for a little procedure. Drugs used are called vasodilators
