ANGIOSPERMS

  • Angiosperms are flowering plants.
  • They are the most abundant of all plants
  • They contain fruit. (ex. apples, oranges)
  • Angiosperms reproduce by pollination.

EXAMPLES OF ANGIOSPERMS

  • Garden flowers.
  • Fruit Trees
  • Vegetables

REPRODUCTION OF ANGIOSPERMS

  • They reproduce by pollination.
  • Some only have male reproductive structures.
  • Others only have female.
  • Those are considered incomplete.
  • While others have both structures called androgynous.

GYMNOSPERMS

  • Gymnosperms are plants that bear cones.
  • Reproduce by structures called scales.
  • Have needles instead of leaves.
  • "Gymnosperms" is Greek for "naked seeds"
  • Embryo is enclosed within the seed.

  • Pine tree
  • Ginkgo
  • Cycads

  • Male and female cones found on trees.
  • Female cones bigger and higher up in the tree.
  • Pollen tube formed when male and female cone touch.
  • Pollen tubes form zygotes.
