Animal abuse is a horrible issue and should be stopped,we are against this because animals are just like human beings and are no different. Would you like it if someone would abuse you verbally,or physically I know for sure you wouldn't. We believe animals have feelings, and emotions just like an everyday person, animals should be treated and respected just like how we wish to. Even though they aren't humans they still have rights like us and those rules and laws should be followed.
Citizens like Megan and I would like a change to this to ,the wild life in Edmonton is extraordinarily amazing in areas out of the city. Animal abuse is more then just helping animals it is saving a life, making a difference and a change all around you. Your not just helping dogs, cats, and other home animals your saving horses, pigs, cows, and so much more.
Zoos It might look like zoos treat the animals great and take care of them like any pet owner does but, behind those cages there is a lot of cruelty. They abuse innocent animals that do no harm to others. At the Valley Zoo in Edmonton,Alberta there is an elephant named Lucy. Lucy has been placed in a small cage by the zoo and the zoo refuses to put her in a bigger enclosure because she is very old and not very healthy. She's also kept indoors because she's not well enough to preform. This brought attention to many Albertans because she should be placed into a larger pen outside and should be able to have the life as she would if she lived in the wild.
Farms Animal farms are very abusive towards innocent animals like pigs, rabbits, and chickens. For example, to get fur from rabbits, they hold them down and rip the fur out of their skin while they are still living. At chicken farms, they send baby chicks on a conveyer belt into a machine that grinds them up into the meat we eat. At pig farms what they do is they kick the pigs, shove the pigs, and pull them. They also keep them in small crates. This is not happening in Edmonton but it is happening in surrounding cities and also, stores, companies, and businesses are buying products from these farms that are abusing animals.
Why do people abuse animals?
Most people who abuse animals don't do it on purpose. They hurt animals because they don't think about or understand what they are doing. The next biggest group of animal abusers do it on purpose, but don't keep doing it for a long time. For example, a group of kids may decide to throw rocks at a rabbit they may see, or they may hurt a stray cat in their neighbourhood. These people are mostly young or even children, and they hurt animals because they aren't thinking, or because they can't stand up to their friends while under pressure. The last group of people who hurt animals are really bad. These are people who purposely abuse animals because they enjoy hurting things, or because it makes them feel like they mean something. Many of these people would hurt other people if they could get away with it. They just choose to hurt animals because animals can't really do anything to stop them or they can't tell anyone if someone abuses them.
Why should we care about animal abuse?
Animal cruelty to pets in a home is an example of domestic violence, and is often comes along with other forms of violence and abuse, such as child abuse, spousal abuse and elder abuse. There is a growing awareness that young people who abuse animals on purpose are at risk of developing other violent tendencies. Children who witness animals being abused, threatened or killed in a family violence situation are often traumatized and may display their emotions in any number of ways. Some children may show no signs of their emotions, while others may copy the behaviors they witnessed or act it out in other ways.
Thank you for your time and we hope you consider helping us and the animals that are going through abuse. We would like you to try and make a difference in our province or city. I hope you enjoyed.
What we would like to have happen is to make sure that the laws and rights the government has made are done and not just letting the person who has abused that animal with a warning. We should bring more attention to this because animals are like us human beings, they should be respected by following those laws.
