SPONGES

  • Absorbs water for food
  • Young sponge grows off parent
  • Has holes to absorb water
  • Examples: liver sponge,
  • Barrel sponge, etc.

SPONGES

  • Squishy, has many holes.

WORMS

  • Round worms, flat worms,
  • Segmented worms
  • Put eggs in a sack after
  • Mating
  • Some reproduce asexually

  • Some are parasitic
  • Some live in ground
  • Have 5 hearts
  • Can regrow body parts

ECHINODERMS

  • Tube feet to move across ocean floor
  • Can regrow limbs
  • Examples: sea stars, sea urchins,
  • Sea cucumbers, etc.

ECHINODERMS

  • Diet: sea stars eat small
  • Invertebrates. Others eat coral or kelp.

ARTHROPODS

  • Have exoskeleton which they molt
  • Examples: insects, arachnids, bugs
  • Some arthropods are carnivores
  • Some are herbivores
  • Jointed limbs, segmented body

MOLLUSKS

  • Some have shells which they molt
  • Others have no exoskeleton
  • Examples: snails, slugs, squids,
  • Octopi, etc.
  • Soft body, hard shell(for some)

CNIDARIANS

  • Soft squishy body
  • Sexual reproduction
  • One stage is asexual
  • Examples: jellyfish, coral
  • No brain instead nerve net
