• There is no god but allah and Muhammad is is final prophet
• Shahada means witness
• Must say the shahada to become a Muslim
• Often said in a mosque

• Pray facing the quibla
• Pray five times a day
• Needs a clean space
• Not required to pray at a mosque
• The muezzin calls them to prayer

ZAKAT

ZAKAT

• 2.5% of a muslims wealth must be given away
• Believed to make the money Purer
• Money goes to bettering the community
• Must be payed before the year has ended
• Zakat means purification

RAMADAN/SAWM

RAMADAN/SAWM

• Ramadan is the ninth month of the lunar year
• Time of fasting and recalection
• Can only consume food and drinks when the sun is not in the sky
• Children and the sick are excused but must make it up through charity
• Fasting strengthens your connection with Allah

• Every Muslim who is able must travel to meca
• Happens over 5 to 6
• Abandon normal clothes to wear 2 white sheets of cloth
• At the end of hajj men shave their head, and women cut their hair
• Performes a symbolic stoning
