June 12,1929 - Anne Frank is born in Frankfurt, Germany.

JULY 31,1932 - THE NSDAP, ADOLF HITLER'S PARTY, WINS A MAJORITY IN THE ELECTIONS.

JANUARY 30,1933 - ADOLF HITLER BECOMES CHANCELLOR OF GERMANY.

SEPTEMBER 15,1935

  • Hitler's government introduces Race Laws.
  • German Jews have their rights taken away.
  • Jews and non-Jews can no longer get married.

YEAR OF 1940

  • The German army attacks Denmark and Norway.
  • Italy declares war on Britain and France.
  • France surrenders to the German forces.
  • The "Battle of Britain" begins.

YEAR OF 1941

  • Germany attacks Russia.
  • The British & Soviets sign the Mutual Assistance Agreement.
  • Anne & Margot are not allowed to go to a non-Jewish school.
  • All Jews 6 & up must wear a yellow Star of David.

YEAR OF 1942

  • Anne is given a diary on her 13th birthday.
  • Margot receives a call-up notice.
  • The Frank family goes into hiding in the secret annex.
  • The van Pels family go into hiding with the Franks.
  • Fritz Pfeffer joins the Franks & van Pels.

YEAR OF 1943

  • The German army surrenders at Stalingrad.
  • Battle of the Atlantic starts.

YEAR OF 1944

  • Frank family & the others are arrested.
  • Franks & others are taken to Westerbork camp.
  • Later they are transported to Auschwitz in Poland.
  • Allied armies liberated Paris.
  • Cities liberated in Europe.

YEAR OF 1945

  • Edith Frank dies in Auschwitz.
  • Nazis begins the evacuation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
  • Anne & Margot die.
  • Germany is liberated.
  • Adolf Hitler commits suicide.

DECEMBER 31,1946 - President Truman officially proclaimes the end of hostilities in World War II.

JULY 25,1947 - FIRST EDITION OF THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK GOES ON SALE.

  • Opening of the secret annex as a museum.
  • The museum is given the name "Anne Frank House".

FEBRUARY19,1948 - MEMBERS OF THE UNITED NATIONS SIGN THE UNIVERRSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS.
