The history of anzac day

  • The ANZACs were trying to capture the Dardanelles    
  • The Gallipoli landed on 25.4 1915 
  • The ANZACs landed in ANZAC cove
  • They fought for nine months
  • The ANZACs were fighting against the Turkish

History continued

  • Over 120,000 died in this battle with Turkish,British,French and NZ
  • ANZAC stands for Australia New  Zealand Army Corps 
  • The ODE is a very important part of ANZAC Day Services  
  • John McMrae was upset when he wrote "Flanders Field"    
  • Laurence Binyon was upset when he wrote "For the Fallen"

  • The Poppy is a symbol of war remebrance
  • The poppy was the first plant to be on the battlefield
  • the poem was written by John McCrae in 1915  
  • Flanders Field was the name given all WW1 battlefield 
  • the poppy is livked with battlefield deaths

The ODE was written by Laurence Binyon in 1915   

Why do we CELEBRATE ANZAC day

  • To remember the soldiers that died in Gallipoli 
  • It honors and soldiers that came back home safety    
  • It to Respects Family's that had died 
  • to be proud of new zealand's history 
  • To thanks the people that severed this country

ANZAC day is important because
it is a special time to remember
all the brave soldiers who fought for New Zealand, or are still serving our country in the Army, Navy or Air Force.
