WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF ANZAC DAY? WHY DO WE CELEBRATE IT?

  • We celebrate ANZAC day to remember all the New Zealand and Australia army corps
  • . For the ones who died in World war one and World War two.
  • We also remember all the other people who have died in the war.

What role did New Zealand play in that war?

  • New Zealand’s role in the war was to take over Gallipoli.
  • . The war started on the 28th July 1914 in Gallipoli in Turkey 
  • and then lasted until 11 November 1918.

What's the meaning/significance of the poppies?

  • The poppy’s represent all the soldiers who died in the WWI
  • We have poppies because where they were fighting it was a poppy field 
  • and the poppies came out around the time of the war.

How do New Zealanders celebrate ANZAC day?

  • New Zealanders celebrate ANZAC day by wearing poppies on their tops
  • and also baking ANZAC cookies.
