A.P CARTER

AS A CHILD

• He assumed he was going to be a farmer like his parents and hopefully to buy a plot of land for his own
• Worked with his uncle in a traveling choir school

• A.P was also a skilled violinist he also played the guitar with a love for music
• He played in a band called The Carter Family with his wife and her cousin

FIRST SONG

• He was coming home after getting typhoid fever and wrote his song "clinch mountain home" about maces springs on the train

• They went around the country collecting and mixing songs from accapslla groups
• Carter was credited with some songs he did not wright due to this

END

• A.P died at 68 in the year 1960 in maces springs area in virgina
• Sara and A.P divorced but kept the band together for a few years
• Maybelle and her children toured as the carter family and A.p got in the Bluegrass Hall of honor in 2001
• After carter left he went and ran a general store in Hiltons
