CAUSES

  • The most significant known cause for cervical erosion is high levels on estrogen in the body.
  • This condition is common in pregnant women, women on the pill, and is even commonly present in females at birth, as a response to the maternal estrogen levels present in the womb.

SYMPTOMS

  • The larger area of cervical erosion a woman has, the more likely she is to have symptoms, and the more severe the symptoms will be.
  • The columnar cells are fragile, and when they are on the outside of the cervix, they are destroyed easily, often causing bleeding
  • This usually happens after sexual intercourse

  • Another common symptom is cervical ectophy is increased vaginal discharge

TREATMENTS

  • Cervical ectophy is usually diagnosed and discovered in a routine gynecological examination .
  • If the condition is discovered, but no symptoms are present, treatment is not required.
  • Common treatments for sever symptoms include electrocautery and diathermy, which are heat treatments, and crycautery, which is destroying the cells with extreme cold.
