Location of the Apache

  • most Apache Indian tribes lived in the southwest deserts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas
  • some lived in Oklahoma, they were called the na' ishan or plains Apache

Housing

  • The Apache lived in Wickiups, a tent like. structure made of branches, leaves, and grass
  • sometimes covered in Buffalo hide.

Daily life

  • The men were hunters, warriors,political leaders, and cheifs
  • Woman were in charge of building new houses when the tribe moved, and were also incharge of doing common hose chores

  • The chiledren today are like normal everyday children, though the children before the white men were more like colonial children

  • The name " Apache " means " the enemy " in the language of the Zuri tribe
  • The Apache called themseves the " Nde Ndee " meaning the people

  • Gods: The Apache tribe belived in one " creator " beyond humans and that manifested its self as nature

  • Death: Belived that the world of humans was an illusion, that true reality was in the relm of the creator; spirits stick around for 4 days, if a proper burial is held the spirit is freed to the " land of eternal summer " if not reincarnation is debated
