BACKGROUND INFO.
Aphrodite is said to have been born straight into adulthood, and had skipped her childhood.
Aphrodite is also known as Cytherea and Cypris after the two cult sites which is the place of her birth.
Her Roman equivalent is the goddess Venus.
Aphrodite had many other names, such as Acidalia, and Cerigo, each used by a different local cult of the goddess in Greece.
Late 5th century B.C. philosophers had started to draw a distinction between two different Aphrodite's.

EARLY STORY
In the most famous of her myth, her birth was result of castration.
Cronus severed Uranus genitals and threw them into the sea.
The sea foam from his genitals arose Aphrodite.
It says that as the foam grew so did Aphrodite, and eventually she
Washed ashore on a giant sea shell.
