THE CITY AS A CELL

CYTOSKELETON

NETWORK OF PROTEINS PROVIDING CELL NEEDS
We put construction because it give the shape of the building as a cytoskeleton would give a cell.

NUCLEUS

STOREHOUSE FOR GENETIC INFORMATION
We put the White House because it is the center of the it's city like the nucleus is to the cell.

ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM

PROTECTS PROTEINS AND LIPIDS
We put a police officer because he protects the city like the endoplasmic reticulum protects the proteins and lipids.

RIBOSOME

LINKS FOR AMINO ACIDS
We put a map of the highways because it links the city as a ribosome links a cell.

GOLGI APPARATUS

MODIFIES, PACKAGES, AND TRANSPORTS PROTEINS
We put a UPS truck because it transports packages like the Golgi apparatus modifies, packages, and transports proteins.

VESICLES

ISOLATE TRANSPORT SPECIFIC MOLECULES
We put a subway station because it transports people while separating them from the city and the vesicles transports molecules.

MITOCHONDRIA

GENERATES ENERGY
We put an electrical tower because it gives electricity around the city such as the mitochondria gives energy to its cell.

VACUOLE

TEMPORARILY STORE MATERIALS
We put a self storage garage because it temporarily stores materials like a vacuole does in the cell.

LYSOSOMES

DIGESTS AND RECYCLES FOREIGN MATERIALS
We put a landfill because it recycles materials as lysosomes would digest and recycle materials.

CENTRIOLES

DIVIDES DNA DURING CELL DIVISION
We put a wrecking ball (ft. Miley Cyrus) to separate a building as a centrioles divides DNA during cell division.

CELL WALL

GIVES SHAPE AND SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUAL CELLS AND ENTIRE ORGANISMS
We put a dam because it gives the water body a shape as a cell wall does to a cell.

CHLOROPLASTS

CONVERTS SOLAR ENERGY INTO CHEMICAL ENERGY
We put solar panels because it turns solar power into energy as the chloroplasts turn solar energy into chemical energy.
