PRESENTATION OUTLINE

ARAB CULTURE

AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON SCIENCE

IMPORTANT MATHEMATICAL CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Discovered fractions
  • Invented the science of Algebra.

How do these affect us today?

Algebra and fractions are very common and useful kinds of math that people use every single day.

IMPORTANT PHYSICAL CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Discovered the principle of inertia.
  • Used hydrostatic balance.

How do these affect us today?

We still are researching inertia today, and hydrostatic balance is really useful in designing boats.

IMPORTANT MEDICINAL CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Developed psychotherapy.
  • Discovered blood capillaries.

How do these affect us today?

Discovering blood capillaries gave us a look into the human body that we still use today, and psychotherapy is still really important today.

IMPORTANT MUSLIM SCIENTISTS

  • Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī - Considered to be the father of Algebra
  • Geber - Considered to be the father of chemistry
  • Bīrūnī - Called, informally, "the first anthropologist".
