  • Archer shoots 40 arrows
  • There are 2 practice rounds
  • The average tournament is 10 & 15 meters
  • A perfect score is 300

SCORING

  • Every 5 arrows is worth 50 points
  • The highest you can score per arrow is 10 points
  • Count the number of spaces from 10 that you shot
  • Subtract the number from 300
  • The rings on the target represent a different score

HISTORY

  • Archery started in approximately 2800 B.C.
  • First composite bow was created by the Egyptians
  • Commonly used as a form of weaponry in the Roman Era
  • Archery has been an Olympic sport since the 1900's
  • Originated in the later Paleolithic Period

POPULARITY OF ARCHERY

  • Archery became popular in the U.S. within the last few years
  • This is due to the movie The Hunger Games. (Hierarchical diffusion)
  • Grown most among women and girls

  • Brady Ellison- #1 recurve archer in the world
  • Oh Jin-Hyek- 1st South Korean to win gold medal in olympics
  • Khatuna Lorig- Coached Jennifer Lawrence for The Hunger Games
  • All 3 have been in the Olympics at least once
