Why is he important? (1)
Archimedes invented the lever and compound pulley. Had success in hydrostatics and made the water screw
And established pi. Created the "Death Ray" and the "Archimedes Claw." He is also credited with calculus.

What is his background? (2)
Born in 287 B.C. In the port of Syracuse, Sicily in the colony of Magna Graecia. Lived 75 years and died in a war in 212 B.C.

What did he do that is still happening today? (1)
His screw is used as well as pi, catapults, physics, hydrostatics, and the compound pulley.

How did he die? (2)
Archimedes was killed during the Second Punic War. He was drawing a diagram when and roman soldier told him to go to the general. Archimedes rebelled by saying he had to my diagram. Furious the soldier killed him when the general merely wanted to speak with the philosopher.
