• Archimedes was a mathematician, engineer, inventor, physicist, and an astronomer
• He went to school in Alexandria at Euclid's
• He was born in the city of Syracuse on the island of Sicily
• Greek name: Ἀρχιμήδης

MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS

• Came up with the word Eureka
• Discovered how to find the volume of a sphere
• Determined the exact value of Pi
• Principle of Buoyancy
• The powers of ten
• Scientific Notation
• Worked with levers and pulleys
• Some of his inventions were the miniature planetarium and the watering screw

CONCLUSION

• Archimedes died during the Siege of Syracuse when he was killed by a Roman soldier
