BRIEF SUMMARY

• Eris, the spirit of strife, his constant companion, was sinister and mean
• Eris had a golden apple which when she through it among friends it would end their friendship, and when she through it among enemies, war broke out
• When Ares heard war, he put on his gleaming helmet and jumped in his chariot
• He suffered pain and would run home to Olympus
• Ares wounds would heal quickly, he would put on his helmet and proudly nod

• One of Athena's pupils were Arachne
• Arachne was wonderfully skilled at the loom
• She boasted to the people that she learned nothing from Athena and thats she was a much better weaver
• Both girls had a competition and Arachne could not compete with Athena's spectacular weaving
• Since Arachnehad said bad words about Athena, Athena turned her into a spider
