PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Aristotle's ideas about tragedies

BY: CALEB SNIDER AND ISRAEL BARRIOS-DIAZ

Three forms of plot to avoid

  • A very good man should not switch from happiness to misery
  • A bad man should not go from misery to happiness.
  • A bad man should not change from happiness to misery.

WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN

  • A true hero must not be too good or too bad.
  • Although he must end up in misery

Example from text

  • Oedipus saves the people from the sphinx.
  • They consider him a hero.
  • Later the kingdom has a plaque and the Oedipus loses his eyes.
