Activity

  • "Mona Lisa" Google image search to demonstrate issues finding images online
  • Break students into groups & ask them to find a work of art using 1. Google Images, 2. Artstor Digital Library, 3. Museum Website, 4. Flickr

Activity

  • After using these resources to find images, ask groups to share observations with the class - quality, metadata, copyright, etc.
  • Use observations to foster a discussion on finding images online - algorithms & discoverability, zooming tools, 3D scans, etc.

  • Divide students into groups and give them case studies related to image appropriation
  • Case studies will be real scenarios
  • Students will present case study to class, noting insights and findings
