THE POISON WITHIN

Arsenic was discovered by this man
Albertus Magnus(Albert the Great) born 1193 in Lauingen, Germany
Died 1280 in Cologne, Germany

Element
AS
Arsenic
Atomic number: 33
Atomic weight: 74.921595(6) grams

Arsenic was discoverer by Albertus Magnus in 1250. It goes back all the way to The Early Bronze Age (2500 B.C.). Arsenic occurs in many rare minerals like orpiment, realgar, enargite, and arsenopyrite(most common) and in metals like sulfur and it is a pure elemental crystal. And only the gray type of Arsenic can be used in industry.

Arsenic is widely unfavorably known and poisonous to multicellular life, and only a few species of bacteria are able to use arsenic compounds as respiratory metabolites. Arsenic contamination of groundwater is a problem that affects millions of people across the globe.

Here are some pictures of what arsenic can so to you.

DEATH

ARSENIC FACTS

  • Arsenic does react in water
  • Arsenic is highly poisonous
  • Arsenic is a metalloid

ARSENIC APERANCE

  • It is only found in it's pure crystal form
  • Arsenic is found in sulfer
  • Arsenic can be white, clear, yellow, gray, black

FUN FACTS

  • In 2000, the FDA approved arsenic as a treatment for some forms of leukemia.
  • Arsenic is still used to harden alloys, specifically lead and copper.
  • Yellow arsenic is the most unstable and the most poisonous.
  • Arsenic is still produced as a byproduct of copper purification.
