Bain à Grenouillère

  • This art work was made in 1869

ELEMENTS OF ART

  • In this image Bain à Grenouillère has greens, browns, blues, black, and shades of grays.
  • There are lines that make the back ground look like there's trees and lakes. The lines also make up the dock where all the people are sanding and the tress the provide shade for them in this picture.
  • Shapes like rectangular prisms and rectangular pyramids make up parts of the dock.
  • Spaces was filled up by the lake, trees, and the sky in the back ground.
  • There are whites in the water that make the lake look like it has ripples and waves in the lake.
  • The sun shining on the water helps put the value in to the picture by putting the lights with the darks to creature texture in the water.

PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN

  • The emphasis brings my eye to the tree in the middle of all the people.
  • All the people make the balance lean more in the middle.
  • The people proportion to the dock makes the dock look really large.
  • There's not much of a pattern in this picture.

My opinion on this art work is that the balance of the picture is pretty equal because it keeps my attention toward the middle of the page. I also like that he was able to make it look like there was ripples in the water. I think that it must have been really difficult to draw all those people in one place.

And I realize that he had to take the time to go out and find the perfect spot to paint all these people or that he was creative enough to think of this place. I also have read that his wife is in most pictures so it makes me think or wonder if she could be in this picture.

Impression Sunrise

  • This art work was made in 1872

ELEMENTA OF ART

  • Blues,yellows,black, and brown.
  • The lines make up what looks like ships in the back ground.
  • Shapes make up the person and the boat.
  • The water and the sky takes up the main part of the picture
  • The paint brush makes the water look like it's got ripples in the water.
  • The value of the sun gleaming off the water so that the back of the person and boat are darkened is pretty realistic.

PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN

  • The emphasis in this art work draws my eye to the person in the boat.
  • The balance is more to the left of the picture than to the right.
  • The proposition of the little boats to the big boats in the picture make the bigger boat look really far away.
  • There is no pattern in the painting.

My opinion on this art work is that it's a picture of a sun set or sun rise out on the water. This is a really pretty art piece because he was able show the sun reflecting off the water. I also think that it was amazing that he was able to blend the bouts in with the back ground so that it looks foggy.

Like the way he was able to do it with the sun then he was able to put the boats reflection on the water. He was even able to put the little boats reflection on water. By making its shadow longer it shows that the sun is lower on the water to stretch out its shadow.

Poppies

  • This art work was made in 1873

ELEMENTS OF ART

  • The colors are blue, green, dark greens, yellows, whites, and drowns.
  • There is a tree line in the back of the image.
  • There are shapes that make up the people a shapes that make up the trees.
  • The texture in this art work is rough because the grass seems to be dry and scratchy.
  • The lightness of the sky turns into the darkness in the trees that transforms into the lighter field of grass

PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN

  • The emphasis is that my attention is draw to the big tree in the back.
  • The balance in this picture is good because of the the house and people on the one side and the big tree and the people by the big tree.
  • Proportion is that the house is far away because it's really small while the people are up close because they are big compared to the the house that's located in the tree line.
  • There's a pattern where the flowered are randomly placed around and in the field.

I choose this picture because I like that there is a variety of colors. I also like that he was able to fit a house in the tree line, way in the back just to show how far away they are from there house. I also think that it was pretty special that he was even able to draw people against the tree line in the back.

The flowers are also a nice part of this picture because they provide a little bit more vibrant color to the image. The flowers also give a location that the people are on the field of flowers. The house in the back is really interesting because even though it's far away in the background it's still manly detailed in this image.

The Magpie

  • The magpie was made from 1868 to 1869

ELEMENTS OF ART

  • The lines makes a fence line and a tree line the goes back with the road.
  • The colors are white in the snow, brown in the trees and fences.
  • The value in this picture is the bright snow and the dark in the fences.

I like this painting because it only took a few colors to create this, so even though there's not many colors he was able to create something amazing. I also like the bird on the fence i think that it was a nice touch because it shows not many animals are out in the cold of winter. I also think it was creative that he put the snow on the ground because it shows how much snow is actually on the ground.

I this painting is pretty interesting because I noticed that none of the trees had leaves on them. This means that it's at winters peak because there's no leaves on the trees and there is snow on the ground.

Woman With A Parasol

  • Woman with a Parasol was made in 1875

Untitled Slide

  • Lines make up the umbrella with a straight line making the stick and curved lines making the top of the umbrella.
  • Blue and whites make up the sky and clouds in the back ground while brown and gray make up the umbrella and the ladies dress.

My opinion on this art work is that I think that it took lots of skill to make this art work. The reason I say this is because to draw a person and a beautiful back ground is a hard thing to draw. To mixes these two things is very hard to do well.

I also like that he was able to make some parts of the cloths darker and lighter to represent a shadow cast by the person. I think it was also pretty difficult to make the grass look like it has a shadow on it. He did this by making the grass darker around the other grass.

THE WRECK OF THE OLE 97

WAS COMPLETED IN 1943

ELEMENTS ART

  • The color black makes up most the train. The rest of the tray is made by a dark gray.
  • The railroad track is made of perpendicular and parallel lines.
  • The emphasis in this picture draws my eye to the horse about to get hit by the train.

My opinion on this art piece is that it is a representation of how people were transforming into a more industrialized community. I think this because u can see the rural farmer recking into a train. Which is because it's like them hitting a wall a revolution.

FLOOD DISASTR

MADE IN 1951

ELEMENTS OF ART

  • There are many vibrant colors in this picture giving it a lot of pop.
  • There are many shapes like houses and cars that are all throw together to look like a disaster happened.
  • The emphasis in this art work draws my eye to the house.

I think this painting really shows what a disaster could be like. Houses lifted up and off their foundation and cars thrown around. With the people in the picture is also shows the kind of panic that happens in a disaster.

THE BOY

MADE IN 1950

ELEMENTS OF ART

  • The proportion of the boy to the horse makes it seem as if he if far away like he is leaving.
  • The emphasis of this picture brings my eye to the boy.
  • There is a variety in color like many of his paints. The color I notice the most is the blue on the boys coat/jacket.

Like this painting and how he was able to create and show that there is a boy leaving his home. I also like that he balance this picture out by putting one large character on one side and three smaller characters on the other side.

A JUNE MORNING

MADE IN 1945

ELEMENTS OF ART

  • The emphasis of this art work brings my eye to the cow being milked by the lady.
  • There are many shapes and one of them makes a barn in the background.
  • The barn is not as large as it would be if it was next to the cow so u can tell that it's further back in the picture.

In this painting I like the colors in this picture. I also like that he was able to create a large plant compared to the barn to show that it's in the background. I also like the way he drew the clouds to make it look as if there moving across the sky.

  • There is a pattern in the leaves.
  • The foreground in this picture is made up of flowers.

I like all the vibrant colors in the picture. I think that it would have been better if she would have made the background a different color something that would make the flowers pop out more.

MADE IN 1925

ELEMENTS OF ART

  • There are curved lines in the flowers to create definition.
  • There is purple on the flower.
  • The foreground is made up of a flower and the background if a white background.

  • The flower is made of warm colors like red.
  • The flower petals create a pattern.
  • The foreground is a red poppy and the background is whited out.

ELEMENTS OF ART

  • The art work is made from cold colors like blue. The blue is in the flower petals.
  • There is a pattern in the leaves.
  • There are two flowers in the foreground and a whited out background.

I think these colors even tho there dark colors like blue and black that they really pop with the withe background. I like that even though she doesn't us colors she was still able to create definition in the art.

THE SKY ABOVE THE CLOUDS IV

MADE IN 1965

ELEMENTS OF ART

  • There is a pattern in the shape of the clouds.
  • There are whites in the clouds and a light blue for the sky.
  • The clouds get smaller as they go back showing proportion.

I like the pattern created by the clouds. It looks almost like a brick walk path that was perfect laid out. I also think that it's pretty cool that she was able to put a horizon line in the painting and its between the sky and another part of the sky even though a horizon line is supposed to be between the sky and the ground.
