ARTHUR early life

  • He was a top ranked tennis player in 1960s and 70s.
  • He was much more than an athlete though.
  • His commitment to social justice , health and humanitarian.
  • He attended MAGGIE L.Walker high school wher he continued to practice .
  • Ashe was the first black  player selected for the UNITED STATES DAVIS.

arthur accomplishments

  • In 1968 , ashe won the UNTED STATES AMATURE champion ships .
  • In january of 1970 , ashe won his second GRAN SLAM singles titel .
  • In september 1970 ,ashe signing a five -year cotract with L.H.W.CH.SH.T .
  • Ashe played for a few more yeras ,but after being slowed by heart surgery

  • On february 6 1993 , ashe died from AIDS,related pneumonia at NY
  • I admire arthur ashe because he was one of the best tennis players on U.S.A
  • But also he chose more careers that only tennis, like soccer too
