ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION

  • Articles Of Confederation is the first constitution in America. Under this
  • Constitution we took minor steps toward being a successful nation. There
  • Were some crucial flaws in this though. It had no power of national
  • Taxation, no power to control trade, and didn't have an executive. Its
  • Biggest weakness was that it couldn't draft soldiers.

ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION

  • The congress was made up of delegates chosen by the state and could
  • Conduct foreign affairs, make treaties, declare war, maintain a army and
  • A navy, have money, and establish post offices. It was hard to make
  • Amendments because all 13 colonies had to agree.

LAND ORDINANCE OF 1785

  • The Land Ordinance Of 1785 set forthcoming the government of the
  • United States would divide and distribute the it had acquired from Great
  • Britain north and west of the Ohio River at the end of that American
  • Revolution. In the Treaty Of Paris(1783), Britain gave up the Ohio Country
  • To the United States. However the Native American tribes did not agree

THE LAND ORDINANCE OF 1785

  • In the Ohio Country to raise funds. The government also feared the large
  • Number of illegal settlers there. Some congressman believed that these people
  • Might form their own country, since the Appalachian Mountains isolated
  • Them from the rest of the world. The land that America gained they.
