Amy Griffin has compiled a list of 187 people– 150 them soccer players– 95 of them goalies- who have been diagnosed with cancer.

In 2012, another study looking at NCAA football injuries showed an increased risk of ACL injuries on artificial turf.

Observations found that on a 98°F day, MU’s Faurot Field an Artificial turf field had a surface temperature of 173°F.

WHAT COULD BE SOME SOLUTIONS?
- Wear better cleats to reduce injuries
- Goalies could wear protective pants instead of shorts
- People could pay more attention to the on-field temperature rather than the temperature outside
