WINSLOW'S FAMILY LIFE
- Winslow was born on February 24, 1836, in
Boston, Massachusetts
- He was one of three sons
- His mother was a water colorist and his first teacher.
- Winslow's first job was a commercial illustrator
- He was a famous artist, he started with oils and he was going into watercolor in the meantime.
- He is best known for landscapes.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND : 19TH CENTURY
- Andrew Jackson was the U.S. President in 1836
- The Civil War between the north and the south lasted from 1861-1865 when Lincoln was president
- In 1865, the brutal institution of slavery ended
