Asian American Culture: Literary Elements
Artwork is a key element to the Asian culture. Chinese art is shown in all facets of fine art, folk art and performance art. Many of the different forms of art date back to the Paleolithic period. Art is shown in the Forbidden Fruit.

Fashion is a key element to Chinese culture. Common Chinese fashion originated from the Qing Dynasty. The main clothing is known as a Hanfu and xuanduan for formal wear. Hanfu is very decorative with bright colors and symbols like the phoenix.
Architecture is a main staple of the Chinese culture. Architecture in China has been dated back to about 2,000 years ago. The architecture focuses on symmetry and nature and ranges from palaces to common farmhouses.

There are many different varieties of Chinese cuisine that come from the practices of dynastic period, when emperors would host banquets with over 100 dishes per meal. They also believe that when it comes to dining you should always have extra food leftover.
Traditions are a very important aspect to the Chinese. They celebrate many different festivals all of them with their own special meanings to them. Some festivals would be Chinese new year, the Lantern festival, the Zhonghe festival, and many more.
In the story "Lucky to be born Chinese" they talk about the Chinese new year festival. The Chinese new year festival where people light fireworks and lanterns. It is a centuries old tradition and was originally made to honor the deities and ancestors.
There are many different types of Chinese literature. Concepts covered within the ancient Chinese texts have a wide range of subjects including poetry, astrology, astronomy, fables, and many others. In most Chinese literature they try to incorporate a lesson or teachings.
In Classic Chinese writing they incorporate "The Four Treasures of the Study" - brush, ink, paper and ink stone in Chinese writing.
Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism, make up the "three teachings" These philosophical frameworks have had a significant role in shaping Chinese culture. Elements of these three philosophies are often incorporated into the traditional folk religions and literature.
