  • Asthma is a sickness that affects your respiratory system and causes breathlessness, chest tightness, coughing, wheezing, etc.

Causes of Asthma

  • Airborne Allergens such as pollen, mold, and dustmites.
  • respiratory infections
  • physical activity
  • cold air
  • air pollutants such as smoke

History of Asthma

  • asthma existed in ancient egypt and there is evidence of it existing before then.
  • in china a few hundred years ago it was common to give a person with asthma herbs.
  • the term asthma comes from the greek word aazein, meaning to pant

symptoms of asthma

  • coughing especially at night
  • wheezing
  • shortness of breath
  • chest tightness, pressure, or pain

how it affects the body

  • limits the flow of air to lungs
  • causes blockage in the bronchial passages
  • affects the respiratory system

Affects on daily life

  • people with asthma need to carry an inhaler every day with them
  • it is hard to excersize without getting a shortness of breath and you get tired easily

Cures and treatments

  • inhalers
  • nebulizers
  • breathing machines
  • there is not yet a cure but these medicines can strengthen to give you less of a risk of an attack

Climate change

  • a long term change in the earths climate due to pollution making an increase in the average atmospheric temperature

how it is being affected by climate change

  • asthma is being affected by climate change beacause the air in the atmosphere is not as clean anymmore. now there is pollution, smoke, and pollen in it. this makes air less clean and harder to breathe in causing people with asthma to cough and wheeze more frequently.
