She was raised a beautiful and skilled huntress. Who did not deal with anybody’s bs.
Story of the centaurs
King of Calydon messes up royally and she fixes the problem ASAP. Even though everyone doubted her except Meleagar(friend-zoned real quick.) Ended in tragedy.
Suitors(Atalanta was not having it)
Her proposition which ended in many deaths(not surprising.)
The race, Hippomenes shows up
Hippomenes wins because of Aphrodite’s help, and the fact that Atalanta loves shiny things.
Bore a son (Parthenopaeus)
Atalanta and Hippomenes supposedly turned into Lions. (1. Zeus did it because they did the dirty in one of his temples 2. Aphrodite did it because she was not honored properly.)
She was one of the few mortal heroines that kicked ass and had two X chromosomes at the same time.
Her appearance is depicted as a beautiful woman with an amazing physique also she had a face that was “too maiden to be a boy, and too boyish to be a maiden.” However she was very desirable by men at the time.
Her attire as quoted on page 246: “A shining buckle clasped her robe at the neck; her hair was simply dressed, caught up in a knot behind. An ivory quiver hung upon her left shoulder and in her hand was a bow.”
Treated men as comrades and not as possible lovers(Poor Meleager.)
She was determined to never marry because it would take away her freedom as a huntress.
She tries to jump at every chance of adventure but denied many times given that she was a beautiful woman and things could go haywire. (Jason and the argonauts)
Clearly forgiving because she reconciled with her father...
She liked toying with men which pretty much ended with those men dying by her hands(How delightful.)
Atalanta pierced the boars head and Meleager pierced his corazon.
Many hunters were uncles of Meleager
They didn’t want Atalanta to keep the boar skin
Meleager kill all of them and his mother, Queen Althea, was notified of the death of her brothers.(mom killed son by chucking the firewood into the fire...lovely.)
Surprise surprise they didn’t understand that because “no” doesn’t mean anything in Greek mythology.
