Athena, the goddess of wisdom and military victory, and also the patron of the city of Athens. She is the daughter of Zeus and is also known as the virgin goddess.

  • Hercules' half-sister.
  • parents were Zeus and Metis
  • Was the first of three virgin Godesses
  • Other two where Maiden and Parthenos
  • Minerva is Athena's Roman name.

Zeus heard a prophecy that the child Metis bore after the birth of Athena, would become The Lord of heaven. So Zeus swallowed Metis while she was still pregnant with Athena. When it came time for Athena to be born, Hephaestus, opened Zeus's head with an axe and Athena stepped out, in full armor.
